Now that the NFL Draft has concluded and OTAs have begun, NFL fans are starting to dust off their fantasy football apps, cheat sheets, etc. in preparation for another season. However, at this point in the year, everything is a blank slate. No one truly knows anything.
As draft days are getting closer, the search for the next “steal” is heating up more and more. Below are three players that are in PRIME positions to outperform their ADP.
Chase Brown (RB | Bengals)
FantasyPros AVG ADP: 27.0 (RB11)
It truly blows my mind that the reigning RB10, who resides on one of the NFL’s best offenses and a team that did nothing to really threaten his role in the offseason, has fallen even a little bit. Sure… WR super-duo Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins signed two of the most lucrative receiver contracts in NFL history, but the object of this offensive unit will be to keep their atrocious defense off the field as much as possible. Won’t the RB position help with that? Of course, you could also point to Zack Moss finally returning from injury, but I can’t imagine that the guy who finished with one Top 10 week as the lead back is going to take too much from the guy who had 6 in his 8 games at the top of the rotation.
Don’t overthink this one. You’ll thank me later.
Stefon Diggs (WR | Patriots)
FantasyPros AVG ADP: 77.5 (WR42)
Okay, there are certainly a number of red flags here.
Let’s start with the obvious: an ACL tear for a 31-year-old WR is never a recipe for success. However, he has passed the early eye test (for what it’s worth) and looks like the WR1 New England was hoping for when signing the contract. If I’m going to be concerned about anything, it’s the off-the-field activities, which might bring some issues to Foxborough if they prove to be a real distraction. But it’s early, only time can tell what this will turn into.
By signing Diggs and using the Number 4 pick on OT Will Campbell, it’s becoming apparent that the Patriots are trying to give second-year QB Drake Maye every weapon he could possibly need in order to become the second coming of a certain former QB. If Diggs enters the year completely healthy and whatever off-the-field issues remain just that, then he should have every opportunity to be the WR1 he desperately wants to be.
Jerry Jeudy (WR | Browns)
Fantasy Pros AVG ADP: 67.0 (WR38)
In his five-year career, Jerry Jeudy has fallen victim to consistently poor quarterback play. However, when given the chance, he’s been able to shine. For the first 7 weeks of last season, it seemed to be yet another wasted year for the former first rounder. However, after an Achilles injury sidelined QB Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the year, QB Jameis Winston came onto the scene and began to pepper Jeudy with targets at a previously unprecedented rate. When it was all said and done, Jeudy finished the year inside the Top 10 in the NFL in targets and yards (14th in receptions). This translated to a WR12 finish in fantasy, ahead of names like A.J. Brown, Tyreek Hill, and Ladd McConkey.
Jeudy will enter this year as the surefire WR1 in an otherwise lackluster WR room, giving him an excellent opportunity to build off of 2024’s breakout campaign and lay claim to another massive target share. The biggest question mark here isn’t Jeudy himself, but the quarterback spot, which has been historically bad in recent memory. If the years-long quarterback carousel is finally able to sort itself out, especially with everything that the Browns have invested into the position, Jeudy will likely end up as one of the main beneficiaries.
